Dr. Stoutamire is an assistant professor of history at 体育菠菜大平台 和 coordinator of the undergraduate public history minor 和 graduate concentration in public history. 他来自塔拉哈西, 佛罗里达, where he was exposed at a young 和 impressionable age to museums 和 historic sites through family road trips. 从那以后，他再也没有回头. He has carried this interest to his work at 体育菠菜大平台, where he collaborates with local 和 statewide organizations, 比如内布拉斯加运动会 & 公园委员会, to develop engaging public interpretation of Nebraska’s dynamic history.
Dr. Stoutamire has published articles in academic journals such as 公共历史学家 和 亚利桑那历史杂志. He is currently working on a book manuscript, tentatively titled Imagining Antiquity: A New 历史 of the American Antiquities Act. This book will exp和 upon his earlier research to explore the origins 和 early uses of the Antiquities Act within the context of settler colonialism, 改革时代的民族主义, 和 emerging regional identities throughout the 美国西部.
Before joining the 体育菠菜大平台 历史 Department, Dr. Stoutamire served for five years as director of the G.W. Frank Museum of 历史 和 Culture. The Frank Museum is an on-campus historic house museum that he developed into a laboratory for students learning about museum administration, 收藏管理, 展示设计, 以及历史遗迹解读. He was recognized for this work with the 内布拉斯加大学 KUDOS Award 和 the New Professional Award from the 国家公共历史委员会.

Dr. Stoutamire believes that the best history work is created collaboratively. He enjoys working closely with our community partners in public history, including the Buffalo County Historical Society 和 the G.W. Frank Museum of 历史 和 Culture. When not working to promote public history in Nebraska, you’ll find him serving in his role as co-chair for the Long Range Planning Committee with the 国家公共历史委员会 or as a member of the editorial board for 亚利桑那历史杂志 和 the American Association of State 和 Local 历史’s series with 罗曼 & 李特佛尔德出版社.
